Work
Beyond the mountains
A stint at Massey University in Palmerston North earned me a marketing degree. This led to a career beginning with marketing roles in New Zealand and then England, where I also based myself during five years of OE.
Returning to New Zealand I joined the senior management team at Tourism New Zealand for a six year stint that took me all over the world in a working capacity. Then I established and ran, for twelve years, my own little strategic consulting business.
The global recession bit, bringing me back into an employed marketing management role at the eco-sanctuary, Zealandia for three years.
Then I rejoined the realms of the self-employed, doing consulting work for Aspire Marketing Solutions. Look no further if you need marketing solutions that take your business to new heights.
In 2019 I became the editor for Backcountry, the quarterly bulletin of the Federated Mountain Clubs. This also involves judging the FMC’s annual photographic competition.
Blending work and play
Most recently I’ve devoted more time to volunteer work relating to photography, writing and the outdoors. As a committee member for the Wellington Section of the New Zealand Alpine Club I co-ordinated and judged the annual photo competition for four years, co-ordinated monthly Section gatherings and designed, wrote for and edited Vertigo – the monthly bulletin.
